Revolutionising Financial Planning & Budgeting Within Schools.

SchoolsBPS is a comprehensive online Budget Planning system designed and developed in conjunction with North Yorkshire County Council, one of the largest Local Authorities in the UK.

The Council's Schools Financial Support Team commissioned the development of the software as a result of continually striving to improve on its financial advice and support to its 400 schools.

For 10 years, financial planning tools were provided to schools via a series of unlinked excel spread sheets. Although the system was user friendly, there were many instances of duplicate entry; the process also required regular maintenance and updates from the Finance Support Team and lengthy consolidation of submitted budgets from schools.

The Vision

Provide all the authority's schools with an online system to report on their financial planning process in an accurate and consistent way.
Design a system that would be user friendly and easy to use with a ‘familiar format’ requiring the minimum of training for schools to adopt a new system.
The data in the system would be controlled by the school with access to individual data strictly at the discretion of the school.
The software would be completely integrated across the authority and be accessed over the internet.
The system had to be easily updated and added to.
Provides for the calculation of the major budget components and the reporting of an accurate financial plan over a 3-5 year period.
Provide an integrated solution which would allow the comparison of actual spend against the submitted budget.
Data transfer to be done via secure transfer protocol.
